modwave Pre FX Wave Shaper Types

The Korg modwave has an extensive Pre FX section with compression, saturation/distortion (via the Amp models), decimation (for additional/finer control than the Oscillator Mod Vintage and Steps settings), ring mod [the Note (Key Follow) OSC Mode is a hidden gem here], Tremolo. Then there's the Wave Shaper for extreme wave mangling. It provides wave folding and clipping through 60 different nonlinear preset functions. These aren't accessible through the hardware modwave's panel, and require the editor or modwave native VST plugin.

The downloadable pdf contains a table showing the effect of passing a sine wave through each of the 60 wave shaper types. If you can imagine what these sound like, you have a better imagination than I do. Still, I created this because I think it can suggest which shaper type might be appropriate for a certain effect.

The primary control for the wave shaper is the Scale value, which ranges from -36 to +36. The output is shown for more extreme range Scale values of 25.8, 29.6, and 36.0. For lower values, you'll have to mentally extrapolate the plots back towards the pure sine wave.
